Pink Grapefruit on a sunny day

Well, so much for my promise to myself to blog at least once a week! In my defence I've had major broadband issues, and I'm nowhere near clever enough to figure out how to blog with my phone. It's up and running now (hooray!) and even though it's a gorgeous sunny day outside (for the first time in what feels like months!) I'm indoors spending way too much time catching up on my pointless browsing (pet shaming, elk on trampolines etc) and making Pink Grapefruit Marmalade. I've wanted to try it for ages, and now I have a big pan of gorgeous pink and orange simmering away on the hob, filling the house with the most amazing fragrance. The colours go so well together I was inspired to compile this zesty Etsy treasury:

Please click on the link above to take a closer look at these lovely items.

Right, I'm off to see how my marmalade is coming along. And maybe venture outside to see what that big round yellow thing is that's appeared in the sky. Maybe it's a giant grapefruit . . . ?

Ships in the Night

I had a little operation last week ~ nothing major, but it's kept me on the sofa recuperating for a few days with barely even any energy to knit (cue shocked gasps!)

But at the foot of my sofa is a thrifted picture I adore, of a ship sailing a moonlit ocean. Here is a terrible photo of that picture:

I just love paintings and pictures of the night, especially when you add in the romance of a gentle ocean and a ship setting off on an adventure. There is something about moonlight on waves, about silver and midnight blue, and the lines and shadows and hints of things that would be laid bare and bereft of mystery during the day. There is a gentle hint of adventure, a thrill of horizons yet to be discovered when dawn warms the sky.

And so although I have been too weak and feeble to get up to anything of much interest, make anything fun, or even finish the tutorials I had planned, I did manage to browse some beautiful artwork on Etsy and put together this Treasury:

You can see the whole treasury here, and I hope you will take a few minutes to do so ~ there are some very talented artists whose work would be better served by a more detailed view. And who knows, maybe one of these prints and pictures will capture your heart and send you off on an adventure of your very own, dreaming on a ship through the night . . .

Knitty Bits

I do love browsing Etsy. I don't get as much time to do it as I'd like, but I had a lovely mooch through the stores last night, looking for gifts for knitters. This is the Treasury I made:

Just click on the photos and you they should magically whisk you to the page they are sold on! (how techno am I getting?!)

This mug from Kelly Connor Designs made me giggle.

I love these knitting needle bracelets from Yellow Bear Wares.

I secretly feel I ought to wear a cape and mask while knitting, like the hero girl in Jam Fancy's print.

And Tangerine 8's badge is spot on ~ what knitter doesn't wish they had a Tardis to store their stash in!

I hope you enjoyed these knitty treats.
